چکیده

A polarimetry system for solar astronomy is presented. The system is based on a reconfigurable coprocessor attached to a conventional workstation. Although the computationally intensive parts of the application are performed in the host processor, the reconfigurable coprocessor plays a key role in taking charge of tasks that the host performs poorly, such as cycle-by-cycle data marshalling and realtime synchronization. The runtime environment supporting the reconfigurable coprocessor makes it easy to experiment with different implementation tradeoffs and postpone the final partitioning of functionality between the host and reconfigurable coprocessor until quite late in the design process.

Gamma-Ray Polarimetry of Two X-Class Solar Flares

We have performed the first polarimetry of solar flare emission at γ-ray energies (0.2–1MeV). These observations were performed with the Reuven Ramaty High Energy Solar Spectroscopic Imager (RHESSI) for two large flares: the GOES X4.8-class solar flare of 2002 July 23, and the X17-class flare of 2003 October 28. We have marginal polarization detections in both flares, at levels of 21 ± 9% and -...

Phase III of USO Solar Vector Magnetograph

The Solar Vector Magnetograph (SVM) is a modern imaging spectropolarimeter installed at Udaipur Solar Observatory (USO). Earlier phases saw the development of the instrument using off-the-shelf components with in-house software development. Subsequently, improvements were done in the opto-mechanical design of the sub-systems and the telescope tracking system. The third phase of the instrument d...

A Self-organizing Learning Array and Its Hardware-software Co-simulation

− In this paper, a self-organizing learning array (SOLAR) and its hardware-software (HW/SW) co-simulation are presented. In SOLAR, every neuron maximizes its information index during feed forward self-organizing learning. SOLAR was simulated on benchmark examples and showed good ability to learn exceeding the performance of many traditional classifier algorithms. A simple HW/SW co-simulation me...
